Daily Schedule*

8:30-9:00 Philosophical Theme
9:00-11:30 Practice (includes asana/pranayama/meditation)
11:30-12:15 Discussion
12:15-1:30 Lunch
1:30-3:30 Daily Topic (Lecture, Discussion, Group Work)
3:30-5:00 Lab/Guided Practice/Practice Teach

*While this daily schedule will be followed on most days, the amount of time given for lab work may vary depending on the needs for student learning for each unit. There is time built into each weekend to provide flexibility to respond to learning opportunities as they may arise in the context of the group.

Each weekend will cover topics/themes similar to the following sample:

Teaching Methods:

  • Balanced Yoga Model® (every weekend)
  • Koshas
  • Ways of knowing
  • Scientific method

Philosophical Theme:

  • Koshas
  • Text overview/philosophy timeline
  • Why study yoga philosophy?

Asana:

  • Warming the body up: Sun Salutations
  • Concepts of movement: forward, backward, twisting, and lateral movement

Self Awareness:

  • What is yoga to me?
  • Begin developing philosophy of teaching
